Check Out Kelly Barradas’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Barradas.

Kelly Barradas

Hi Kelly, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
KellysCandlesCo started off as a school project called the “personal project.” For this project, we could do anything we wanted. I didn’t know what I wanted until I thought about some of my favorite things. I grew up loving my culture; I loved the food, the music, basically everything. I wanted to show off my culture in a way everyone would enjoy it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a business is not an easy thing to do. You have to deal with many obstacles, it can be trying to perfect your product or even a small thing like what to wear at an event. Although it’s been challenging, I wouldn’t change it for anything without those little obstacles; I wouldn’t be where I am right now.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I make Hispanic-inspired soy candles, and I specialize in helping people understand my culture in a way they haven’t seen. I’m very proud of how I’ve been able to talk to people about the background of my products and where everything comes from, and how it’s made.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters to me most is making my family proud. With my business, they’ve all supported me with everything. I’ve loved sharing my culture with everyone, and that matters a lot to me as well.
