Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Remes.  

Hi Kaitlyn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My name is Kaitlyn Remes & I am the owner/founder of Spray With K Sunless Tans. 

Prior to putting down roots in Michigan, I spent nine years in South Florida. Being someone who loves leading an active lifestyle, I spent most of my time basking in the Florida sunshine. As a teenager, I lived for that crisp tanning bed feeling in my pursuit to get fresh bronze skin. However, getting older also means getting wiser! I gave up the tanning bed life & decided to seek out healthier tanning options. The beginning of my sunless tanning journey started with the use of booth tans, which almost always gave me the most perfect hint of orange skin. As you can imagine, those results were less than desirable. I knew there had to be something not only different but better to achieve a beautiful sunless tan that was going to look natural & provide health benefits to the skin. That is exactly how my tanning journey finally landed me into launching Spray With K. Because, as a full-time Physical Therapist, health & wellness is at the forefront of everything that I do personally and professionally. 

Living in the Detroit area with my Husband, Tim, & our dog, Hank has awarded me the opportunity to meet & work with a diverse community of people. And I wouldn’t have it any other way! The work that I do in physical therapy has shaped the passion I have for providing this new service to women of all shapes, sizes & ethnicities. I believe all women deserve to experience a sunless glow that enhances & evens out their skin tone with the comfort of knowing they aren’t damaging their skin or body. It is my mission to change the landscape of the sunless tanning industry & allow YOU to be the face of healthy glowing skin. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I decided to start this business out of pure joy and passion to make other women feel amazing in their own skin. The biggest challenge in the sunless industry is learning skin types and creating a custom solution for each client. With that being said, I am quite the perfectionist. I strive to always get it right based on my client’s skin type as well as the desired depth of the tan. It’s really fun playing chemist! 

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy by day and certified spray tan artist by night. I believe my medical training sets me apart from other spray tan artists. I have a strong background in anatomy and physiology, allowing me to spray tan clients in a way that naturally accentuates their own body and musculature. 

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I pride myself on being a total hype woman. Clients are coming to me and are being quite vulnerable with their bodies during a spray tan. As a society, we need to normalize things like cellulite, veins, dimples, wrinkles, and scars. To me, it’s most important to not only make my client feel comfortable but elevate self-esteem and body positivity no matter size, shape, or skin tone.
