Check Out Joni & Riley Flaska’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joni & Riley Flaska.

Hi Joni & Riley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always been a self-starter who enjoys the challenge of creating, building, and forging new relationships. I started shortly after graduating from college by opening a retail location that grew into three locations. I fell in love with making visions come to life. When we moved to Michigan to be closer to my husband’s family, we decided to homeschool our daughter. I incorporated opening, remodeling, marketing, and advertising into her entrepreneurial class. Together, we opened Cedar LeFleur and gifts. Fortunately, I have extensive experience in plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work from past projects, which I have been able to utilize. My daughter’s artistic vision, drive, and talents are the icing on the cake. My daughter fell in love with the entrepreneurial process, and I fell in love all over again. Our floral designs are being noticed at weddings, funerals, holidays, and private events. Cedar LeFleur is a mother-daughter work of love as well.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a rough road due to the age of our building, the condition of the building, and the fact that we are off the beaten path. It has taken us three years to complete phase one of three, but we are still on track and excited about our progress

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Our floral arrangements for weddings, funerals, holidays, and private events have become a word-of-mouth staple. It isn’t only the final product that brings us joy; it is the happiness we bring our customers and the trust they have in us. We have been told that the love of what we do and heart that we put into our projects shows.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I have a lot of favorite childhood memories, but following my father around while he did odds and ends projects at our home and crafting, sewing, cooking, & just being creative with my mother are the best memories of all.
