Check Out Jess Harris’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jess Harris.

Hi Jess, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into photography didn’t begin with a perfectly mapped plan. It began with a deep love for people and their stories.

I’ve always been drawn to connection. I studied strategic communication and spent time in event planning, where I learned how meaningful moments are built and experienced. Over time, I realized I didn’t just want to help create moments. I wanted to preserve them.

What started as a creative outlet quickly became something much more. I found myself falling in love with the quiet in-between moments, the emotion, and the way light can make a memory feel timeless. I officially launched Jess Nicole Creative in 2023, and since then, it has grown into a space where I get to document love, life, and littles in a way that feels honest, intentional, and deeply human.

Today, I’m not just taking photos. I’m telling stories people will return to for the rest of their lives. That is something I don’t take lightly.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road, but I think that’s part of what makes this work so meaningful to me.

There have been seasons of doubt, of learning curves, and of figuring things out in real time. Building a business from the ground up requires wearing many hats, and there were moments where I questioned if I was doing enough or doing it well.

There were also more personal seasons, especially surrounding my health, that asked me to slow down in ways I never expected. Those moments were challenging, but they changed me. They taught me how to be present, how to listen more closely, and how to truly see people.

In many ways, those experiences deepened my work. They shaped how I connect with my clients and how I hold space for them. What I do now is not just about capturing what something looked like, but about honoring what it felt like.

Looking back, I wouldn’t trade those harder seasons. They refined both my work and my perspective, and they’re a big part of why my business feels so aligned today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a photographer who specializes in documenting love, life, and littles, capturing everything from proposals and couples to maternity, newborn, and family sessions. Alongside that, I’ve built a boudoir experience that is rooted in empowerment, creating a space where women can step into confidence, feel deeply seen, and reconnect with themselves in a way that is both vulnerable and transformative.

At the core of all of my work is connection. I’m drawn to the quiet, meaningful moments that often go unnoticed, and my approach is a blend of lifestyle and guided posing. I never want my clients to feel stiff or unsure, so I gently direct when needed while also leaving space for natural interaction to unfold. That balance allows my images to feel both refined and deeply authentic.

I’m known for creating an experience that feels intentional, supportive, and safe from beginning to end. I care deeply about how people feel in front of my camera. Whether it’s a couple in love, a growing family, or a woman walking into a boudoir experience, often with nerves or uncertainty, my goal is always the same. I want them to feel seen, confident, and at ease.

What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. Much of my business has grown through word of mouth and returning clients, which feels incredibly meaningful. It reflects not just the images, but the experience itself.

What sets me apart is not just how I photograph people, but how I care for them. My work has been shaped by personal seasons that taught me how to slow down, to be present, and to truly see people for who they are. Because of that, I don’t just focus on creating beautiful images. I focus on creating space. Space for people to be fully themselves, to feel safe, and to be remembered in a way that is honest and lasting.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is spending time with my grandparents, especially my grandma. She taught me how to sew and knit, and we were always working on some kind of project together.

Those moments felt steady and meaningful. Sitting side by side, creating something with our hands, and simply being together without rushing. I didn’t realize it at the time, but those experiences taught me patience, creativity, and how special it is to slow down and be present with someone.

She has since passed, but I hold those memories close. In many ways, my work feels similar. It’s intentional, hands-on, and centered around creating something meaningful that people can hold onto for years to come.
