Check Out Janica Smith’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janica Smith. Them and their team share their story with us below:

What started as a gift for her guests during her backyard, quarantine-style birthday party, Janica Smith turned into a timely, thriving business. Janica’s knack for putting together beautiful, elaborate experiences translated perfectly into creating the most exquisite and mouth-watering charcuterie spreads around town. Her brand, Janna Kay, seeks to elevate the charcuterie experience by providing premium selections that offer the freshest, most appetizing pairings you can find locally.

With an extensive and impressive background in retail merchandising, Janica is using her expertise to blaze a trail as an entrepreneur and luxury brand. She is led by faith with a fearless pursuit to create a lasting legacy for her daughters, but most importantly to fulfill her own dreams and goals. As a working mom, Janica understands the balance between her individual aspirations and those of her children. She hopes to encourage them to always value their own talents and passions by first leading by example.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
So far, it has been an amazing journey. I’ve had my fair share of setbacks and challenges, but I have taken the time to truly learn from them and prepare myself for the next milestone I want to reach. The funny thing is, many of those so called “errors” ended up bringing me more success!

Looking back I’d say things have played out exactly the way God intended and for that I am grateful and humbled by the path I’m on.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create beautiful charcuterie arrangements and displays that are both aesthetically pleasing and delectable to the palate. I employ my background knowledge in merchandising and visual display creation to take my clients on a culinary journey that evokes all the senses. We eat first with our eyes, so the proper placement of each item is key. I want my customers to be satisfied by the sight of their box or board before they even taste it. Simply looking at it is an experience in itself.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I have to thank Tasha White of Snooky Cookies for always pushing me to step fully into my craft. She is a trusted friend and motivator. Tee Capel of DOSE for giving me the opportunity to showcase my items and build a larger following. Wendy of Sugah Please for instilling in me her knowledge of business and also giving me the space to learn who my clients were. Patrick Simpson for assisting with the growth and development of the brand. Also TechTown and ProsperUs for helping me to build the foundation for my business.
