Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah McKay

Hi Hannah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Elizabeth and I worked together at our previous salon and we had an opportunity present itself that we couldn’t turn down. The space for our salon kind of just fell into our laps and we decided to just go for it. So with the help of our family and friends we completely redid the space and only had intentions of it being the 2 of us. As time went on we decided we wanted to add some girls to our team. We are now a team of 5 and we are so happy that it has led us here!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There has definitely been some struggles for us. Owning a business is not for the weak. Starting a business from scratch and figuring out all of the business and financial parts of it has been hard and frustrating at times. Luckily we are surrounded by support. We also had a flood in October of 2023 that resulted in our salon being almost completely gutted and redone. This also happened a week before my wedding, so I would say that has been the hardest thing we have gone through. Again, we have the best support team that helped us get through that!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a cosmetologist. I do both hair and nails. I feel like I have excelled with nail art and I’m so proud of some of the art I have created. I also love doing hair, blondes and brunettes. My favorite part of my job is being able to go back and forth between hair and nails and not doing the same things everyday.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I come from a family of business owners and I’m so proud that Elizabeth and I have created a business for us and other artist to thrive in!
