Check Out George Dennehy’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to George Dennehy

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born without arms and born in Romania. I was given up to an orphanage where I was neglected and malnourished because of my disability. But a family from the US saw my worth and adopted me, saving my life. I grew up learning how to overcome a variety of challenges, including learning the cello at the age of 7. My musical knowledge and passion grew as I learned the guitar, piano, and singing. Today I am a full time speaker and musician!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been smooth! It was a challenge to learn how to do things differently and to come up with my own ways to overcome different challenges. The greatest challenge was the emotional aspect of being different. It was hard to learn to accept, love, and be proud of my disability. But once I did, everything changed! Perspective matters!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a full time speaker and musician. I travel the county providing keynote talks on a variety of subjects including but not limited to,
Overcoming Obstacles
Adoption
Bullying
Following your Dreams
Disability awareness/equality

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that whether I say “I can’t” or “I can”, I’m right!
