Check Out Fatt Father’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fatt Father.

Hi Fatt, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a hip-hop artist who has been recording and releasing music for 20+ years. For most of my career, I’ve been well known as the confident fat dad that rhymes extremely well. I’ve toured the country and acquired fans all over the world with my musical talents. In 2020 I realized that it was time for me to make better life choices which began with my health. I then acquired 2 amazing personal trainers, Coach Lance and Coach Jewels of Synergy Works Detroit, restructured my eating habits, and went from a 456 lbs. to 251 lbs. in less than 2 years. Over the course of my weight loss journey, me and one of my trainers, DJ Jewels Baby, who also happens to be an amazing producer and longtime friend, formed a new group and recorded a new album. The project is self-titled “Grindset Vol.2” and was just released on July 1, 2022. I’ve done a lot of different things when it comes to preparing for the release of a record, but this is the first time that it involved a 200 lb. weight loss.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Strengthening my willpower and focusing on being a better version of myself for my wife and children got me through some tough times. There were days when I was sore from working out and couldn’t comfortably sleep or pick up a pen to write a word. I also take care of my beautiful wife who has been battling lupus since 2017.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I truly believe that musical talents are just a small part of my gift. Music allows me to communicate with the listeners, and I have always respected my ability to do so. When the mic is on, I put everything on the floor, even the dirt. The thing that separates me from most is the fact that you will always find seeds of growth planted in that dirt. My weight loss journey is now allowing me to inspire and motivate ppl even more while still delivering amazing music.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I believe that the definition of success is always tailored to fit the individual who is defining it. For me, success is being able to establish residual joy, peace, and understanding from the rewards of your accomplishments.
