Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Andersen.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey with music started at a very young age. I have had a lot of great examples and people to look up to in my family and family friends throughout my life. They have inspired me every step of the way and have continued to be part of my journey today. I started my career while I was in college by recording and releasing my first single, “Pressure” in 2019. During the pandemic, my family friend/producer, Ryan Jarvis, worked with me on my first EP release, “Alive”. We ended up completing the whole project via Zoom with recordings taking place in both L.A. and Chicago. I finally got the opportunity to start performing live with those songs starting in the Spring of 2021. Ever since then, I have been performing all throughout the Chicagoland and Southwest Michigan area with my original music and Pop/RnB covers ranging from the 1980s-now!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The shared global struggles of the pandemic did make the road less smooth, but I was so happy to have worked through that and still create original music via Zoom in 2020. My years of performing have been a great experience and an overall smooth road! I am so grateful to all the venues that have hosted me and the people who have supported me along the way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a musician/artist that performs live in the Chicagoland and Southwest Michigan areas with a mixture of original music and Pop covers ranging from 1980s-now! I think what sets me apart from others in my field is my set list. I do think that my favorite compliment that I get after performing is when people point out how much they enjoyed my setlist and how my original songs mixed in well with my covers. I pride myself on choosing songs to cover that people like to listen to that they might not always hear from one person. I sing a mixture of a couple of different genres including Pop, RnB, Rock, and even a Country song. I sing songs that I love to listen to and I enjoy singing, and it feels good knowing that people enjoy listening!
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I would say the best piece of advice I have gotten regarding networking is to be a “good hang”. It can be taken as casually or professionally as the situation requires. If you lead with kindness and respect at all times, you have a great foundation.
