Check Out Dina Song’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dina Song.

Hi Dina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Dina Song, and I had cats my entire life except for a long 10 years when I started a family. My cat lady life started up again after rescuing a cat and her kittens. We ended up keeping 4 kittens and it was the best thing we ever did as a family! The saying “Life is better with a cat” is real!

This rescue experience inspired me to start Miau Miau Clothing Co. where I design and sell cat-themed apparel and accessories. I donate the profits to cat rescues and care for abandoned cats in my neighborhood. I was able to debut my company a few years ago at Catcon Worldwide in Los Angeles, and Meow Meetup in Chicago. I could not have done these big events without the support of my husband daughters, and mom. I am forever grateful for their support and help.

Life for me is all about family, cats, and cars! By day I am an automotive engineer, and by night and on weekends I run my online shop and hustle my cat t-shirts, for the purpose of helping cats in need! With the growing popularity of social media cats, TV shows like My Cat From Hell – by Jackson Galaxy, documentaries The Cat Rescuers, and Cat People, and now a dating app called Tabby I am excited to be part of the cat movement. In the future, I hope to collaborate with a cat rescues and work to educate people about trap-neuter-release and caring for homeless cats.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Miau Miau Clothing Co. has been a blessing for me. It allowed me the fulfill my desire to be an entrepreneur, and give back to cats in need. My only challenge has been time, as I work at Miau Miau Clothing Co. part-time!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have a bachelor’s degree in engineering and an MBA and work as an automotive engineer in advanced vehicle development – electrical systems. I am proud of working to make vehicles more safe and rescuing cats!

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking?
Starting a business is a risk. I would say that I am a risk-taker, being that I started Miau Miau Clothing Co. as a side hustle. My engineering job has been able to fund my entrepreneurial endeavors.
