Check Out Delaun Hill’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Delaun Hill.

Hi Delaun, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
At 20 years old, while attending Oakland University, I was fully experiencing the “broke college kid” phase. Despite working three jobs and attending college full-time, I was still looking for more — an extra source of income.

Surrounded by entrepreneurs and inspired by the beauty industry, I was encouraged to pursue lash extensions. At the time, there weren’t many lash techs around — and honestly, my cousins and I just wanted to be cute, lol. After saving my paychecks, I invested $2,000 (which was a whole lot back then) to learn how to do lash extensions.

I went into it without a plan. I did almost no research, and aside from having gotten my lashes done a few times, I had no idea how much effort it would really take.

After completing the course and doing my first set of lashes, I absolutely hated it, lol. I only had the basic supplies from class — no lash bed, no lamp, no proper chair. My setup was my mom’s living room couch, a dim lamp, and a very patient family member as my first client. It took me five hours to finish one set, and by hour three, I had already made up my mind that I would never do lashes again. (I actually said “I’m never doing this again”)

Fast forward 11 years — I am, indeed, still doing lashes, lol.
With the encouragement of family and friends, and a whole lot of faith in Jesus Christ, I’ve grown from a couch in my mom’s living room to building a lash community larger than I could have ever imagined. Today, I’m proud to say I have a brand that was built from scratch — with passion, perseverance, and purpose.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road indeed has been challenging. It didn’t take long for me to comprehend the difference between having a side hustle, a business, and then a brand. Before becoming a full-time lash tech, I graduated from college and worked for the State of Michigan.

When I quit my job, I was honestly so scared. I told God, “Who would want to get their lashes done enough for me to pay my bills?” I’m sure He laughed at that question because I’ve never gone without since.

That being the first hurdle, many more came, but I always remembered the fear I conquered in the beginning.

Though adjusting from getting a paycheck every two weeks to learning how to be a good steward over my money was challenging, it wasn’t all hard. I learned how much I love people, I love building relationships, and boy, do I love me some lashes.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the Natural Lash Extension Queen! I have perfected the individuality of lashes, tailoring each set to every client — not just to their eye shape, but to their lifestyle as well.

My clients range from CEOs to high schoolers. I am known for helping my clients see their beauty, showing others that lashes don’t have to be overpowering, but can simply be an enhancement. Beauty isn’t just what we see — it’s what lives inside our hearts. I encourage and highlight the best parts of each person I encounter, and I’m most proud of that.

Watching my clients grow through life and being there for them has been my greatest achievement. Many things come and go, but genuine relationships last forever.

What sets me apart is not just my craft, but the trust my clients have in me. Not only will you love your lashes — you’ll never have to worry about me being late, rescheduling, or not showing up for you in every way. I am the definition of consistent. To me, customer service is just as important as the craft.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Something I would like to share with readers is this:
Don’t let fear keep you from walking into a life-changing blessing.

2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.”

If you’re scared to do something, it’s very likely that it’s exactly what you’re supposed to do. With a small amount of faith, and a large amount of hard work and sacrifice, everything will absolutely work out in your favor.

And once you overcome the fear, don’t let the challenges of whatever you’re pursuing stop you from continuing. It’s not supposed to be easy — but it will be worth it.
