Today we’d like to introduce you to Danni Little. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Danni Little is a self-taught, independent, self-published author & Detroit creator whose poetry books focus on Healing & Wellness. Known for her gritty and candid literary style and most known for being an extreme crafter, she makes her original books by hand. She has written 2 poetry/prose books, ‘The inner workings of an untamed mind,’ ‘Feelings of an Introverted Introvert’, and a self-care journal, ‘On Sunday’s We Self Care.’ Each book offering you a bit of healing via self-care. In addition… Danni also hand-makes quirky yet funny jacket pins, magnets, stickers & knitted beanies. 

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. I’m self-published, so it’s harder to reach my target audience. I do craft shows to get the word out about my books. I make an original version by hand. 

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a self-published author of poetry known for my gritty & candid literary style & most known for being creative & making all of my books by hand. Most proud of my dedication to my work. I am the first black woman to create my books by hand in Detroit to my knowledge. I also knit & crochet beanies & plants you can’t kill. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck. I have put in a lot of hard work to get the word out about my books & I still haven’t gotten as much recognition as I’d like. I would like to find a publisher, but if not, I will self-publish my fourth book of poetry, which I am in the process of writing now. I’ve sold way over 1000 books, so that is a major accomplishment for me.
