Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille Baker.
Camille, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
If you look at my story from a surface level you would see a girl borded in her room during covid, Learning things she dident know about herself and having an itch to create something. its so much deeper than that! Growing up plus size there were a lot of obstacles, but the biggest obstacle was always my own mind and what I limited myself to. I began to question the norms of society and understand what it is life is what you make it .From then I found love within myself outside of my appearance and that love for myself started to show in every aspect of my life , I became more confident, more focused and more happy. I started to not care what people said and wore what I wanted not being scared to show off my curves I lost the need to wear hoodies and leggings in. 90 degree weather. I stopped saying I’ll wear this when I’m skinny and took full control of my reality. Which is how I started social media and became someone who young girls and woman look up to. Someone who is unapologetically her ! That journey didn’t just change me it changed my purpose. I realized that confidence isn’t something you wake up with one day; it’s something you choose to build every single day. I wanted to create something that reminded people of that feeling every time they got dressed. That’s how Aura by Mills was born.
Aura by Mills is more than a clothing brand. It’s a reflection of everything I’ve learned about self-love, confidence, and embracing who you are right now not five pounds from now, not next year, and not when society decides you’re enough. Every piece is meant to make you feel seen, comfortable, and powerful in your own skin. Aura by Mills is a reminder that your aura is your greatest accessory. When you believe in yourself, walk with confidence, and embrace every part of who you are, that’s what people remember. That’s the energy I hope to inspire in every person who becomes part of this community.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Growing up plus size came with challenges, but the hardest part wasn’t my body it was the way I saw myself. I spent years believing I had to shrink myself to deserve confidence, love, and cute clothes. I missed out on moments because I was too busy worrying about how I looked. I hid behind oversized hoodies and T-shirts, convinced I had to become someone else before I could truly live. Now, at 25, I genuinely don’t care what anyone has to say about me, and that freedom has changed every part of my life. Becoming an influencer wasn’t just about building a platform it was about building myself. I’m still growing, still learning, and still becoming the woman I want to be. But if my journey can inspire even one person to love themselves, embrace who they are, and romanticize their life instead of waiting for the “perfect” moment, then I’ve truly done my job.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a content creator, entrepreneur, and the founder of Aura by Mills. I built my platform through plus-size fashion, showing women that style has no boundaries. My content focuses on fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and self-love, encouraging women to embrace themselves exactly as they are. By showing up authentically and sharing my own journey, I’ve created a community where women feel seen, represented, and inspired to express themselves without apology. To me, your aura is like a scent, it leaves a lasting impression on everyone you meet. You may not be able to see it or smell it, but you can always feel it. That’s the idea behind Aura by Mills. I want people to understand that confidence isn’t about being the loudest person in the room; it’s about knowing your worth the moment you walk in. When I walk into a room, I know I own it , I belong there, and that’s the feeling I want every person to experience.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories has to be when I was about three or four years old. I had this little toy that would repeat everything I said. On it was a recording I’d made when I was only two or three years old:
“My name is Camille Bailey Alexandria Baker, and I’m going to be a superstar.”
It’s funny because that sentence perfectly sums up who I was as a kid. Anytime someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was always the same: **I wanted to be famous.** I didn’t know what I wanted to do, and I had no idea how I was going to get there. I just knew I wanted a life where people knew my name.Looking back, I don’t think that dream came from arrogance. I think people misunderstood me. Some adults saw my confidence as cockiness, but I never felt like I was better than anyone else. I just had big dreams. The hard part was that, growing up, I didn’t always feel heard. Instead of encouraging my imagination, I often heard things like, “Camille doesn’t know what she’s talking about,” or “Camille’s stupid or dumb,” or “Camille’s stupid.” After hearing those kinds of comments enough, you start to question yourself. But even then, there was still this little girl who believed she was meant for something bigger. She didn’t know what the path would look like, but she believed in herself long before anyone else did. Looking back now, I realize that little girl’s confidence wasn’t something to be ashamed of it was the beginning of believing in my own potential.
