Today we’d like to introduce you to Barry Walton

Hi Barry, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Barry Walton grew up in a small town in Michigan and, after college, made the bold move to Hollywood, where he bootstrapped his way into the film industry. During his time in Los Angeles, he worked on films, commercials, and music videos alongside some of the biggest names in the business. His career trajectory took a significant turn when he accepted a position in San Francisco producing shows for NatGeo and Animal Planet, sparking a deep love for documentary filmmaking. This passion led him to create six documentary pieces, one of which took him to the highest motorable pass in the Himalayas of India.

Barry’s work has been widely recognized, earning him 18 awards for Best Documentary Short for his film Empty America and an Emmy for a one-time sports special that aired on FOX Sports. Today, he runs his own media company, Endless Media, where he collaborates with professional and college athletes to document their stories and share them with the world. In 2024, he expanded his creative work by becoming an author, completing his first book, The Unknown Adventure, which reflects his dedication to storytelling and exploration of the human spirit.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Barry Walton’s story is one of hard work, perseverance, and transformation, shaped by overcoming early setbacks and navigating through life’s unexpected turns. Growing up in a small town in Michigan, he faced challenges early on, failing the third grade and struggling to find his academic footing. But these initial struggles only strengthened his resolve to push past limitations and find his own way forward. At 16, Barry survived a traumatic car crash—a pivotal moment that shifted his outlook on life and led him to study theology and seek deeper meaning through his experiences. With a renewed drive, he set his sights beyond his small-town roots and moved to Hollywood, diving headfirst into the world of filmmaking.

With no formal training, Barry taught himself the art and business of film. Starting at the bottom, he worked tirelessly on sets, taking on any opportunity, whether it was in commercials, music videos, or film projects. His hustle and determination paid off, earning him a reputation as a resilient self-starter willing to put in the hard work to bring compelling stories to life. His passion for storytelling eventually took him beyond the glitz of Hollywood to San Francisco, where he began producing shows for NatGeo and Animal Planet, falling in love with documentary filmmaking. This love propelled him to film a documentary in the Himalayas of India and create numerous award-winning pieces, including Empty America, which earned 18 Best Documentary Short awards, and an Emmy for a sports special on FOX Sports.
