Check Out Ashlee Jones’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlee Jones.

Hi Ashlee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’d be lying if I said being my own boss was a lifelong dream. Establishing a business was never a part of the plan, and certainly not being a Notary Signing Agent. This time last year I was 7 1/2 months pregnant, newly married, and fired from what I felt was the best job I ever had. I endured several long months of morning sickness, and maintaining work was quite the struggle. After having our daughter (at the start of COVID), I knew returning to work was not an option. My mother in love mentioned, her sister started a side job as a Notary Republic. My first reaction was ” How wonderful for her” that profession did not pique my immediate interest. After a few months of wondering what’s next for me career-wise, I decided to do research on notary republics and how they earn substantial income. To my surprise, mobile notary service was on the rise. I decided I wanted in; I mean what could be better than people paying you for your autograph?

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not! I had not the slightest idea on what I was doing or how to do it. My biggest hurdle was understanding all of the documents involved with closings, and being able to articulate them when presenting. I decided to seek wisdom from a mentor and turned to Notary II Notary’s coaching program for one-on-one coaching and mentorship.

The other battle was getting assignments so that I could become better with time. How you land assignments as an NSA (Notary Signing Agent) is by responding first to job notifications. You have to be very quick otherwise you miss out, I had to develop a system for getting the jobs, which involved…. well, I can’t give away all my tips and tricks.

My latest hurdle has been marketing, I can’t seem to find the right platform to market my services. As of now, my Google business page is where it’s at. I get many inquiries from google so I’m thinking pages like google and yelp may be the best fit for my company. Until we advance to TV ads that is.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Notary Signing Agent, and I specialize in general notary and mobile closings. Whether you’re refinancing a mortgage or needing to verify your address is within school district boundaries, A notary may be required to sign with accuracy and in truth.

something I am most proud of is my feedback on my google business page. I meet some really amazing people! oh and did I mention that they pay me for my autograph?

The thing that sets my notary services apart from others, is that I take being a professional VERY seriously. You can tell by my presentation (how I dress) how I communicate and how equipped I am when sitting at the table. Additionally, I am always eager to learn. I never pass up a teachable moment.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love how our city is big on supporting local businesses. No matter the time of year there’s always an event, that allows local businesses opportunity to provide their goods and services to the community. The latest event I attended was the market at the capital. I enjoyed being able to spend dollars within the community I work and play. I also gained some prospective contacts in the process.

I don’t enjoy the lack of “things to do” for our youth. There’s not many things for young children to do, which takes away from our city being family-oriented.
