Today we’d like to introduce you to April Hubbard. 

Hi April, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Shop Mother Hubbard got started with my love to create things. I bounced around and got hooked on so many different avenues – screen printing, sewing, embroidery, digitizing, and dog bandanas! Figured out how to make them all work together, and here we are! 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running a small at-home business allows me to stay home with my little ones (and dogs!) and I will forever be grateful for this opportunity. There are definitely many days when the struggle to juggle everything is real! 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My favorite product I offer is custom pet embroidery. I think because of the challenge since each one is obviously different from the next and because they mean so much to the customer. It always tugs at my heartstrings when they share just how much it means to them. My most popular product is probably the bandana. I love how much people pamper their pets! When I am at markets, I feel like I have the best job in the world. I get to talk about dogs all day! 

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Working from home and being with my family brings me so much joy. I think that having my kids see mom work hard and make things is important in their development. It makes me so happy when they show interest and want to help. They are very good machine button pushers; and great at helping with fabric choices! My oldest told me a few months ago that he wants to sell things at a booth too, so we have been working together to prepare him to have a little set-up at a couple of markets this Summer. Proud mama for sure!
