Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Swint.
Hi Anthony, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Newark, and photography has been a passion of mine since I was young. I really found my love for it in high school when I photographed my first fashion show in 2009. That experience opened my eyes creatively and inspired me to take photography more seriously.
As I continued growing and building my craft, I wanted to create a brand that stood out. In 2014, I officially came up with the name NewLineUp Photography. I didn’t want to simply use my first name like many photographers do because I wanted something unique that people would remember.
Over the years, I’ve continued developing my style, working with different people, and building relationships through my work. My journey hasn’t always been easy, but the support from my community and supporters has kept me motivated. More than anything, my kids are my biggest inspiration. They push me to keep growing, stay creative, and continue building something meaningful that they can be proud of.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many creatives and entrepreneurs, I’ve faced a lot of challenges along the way. One of the biggest struggles was building a name for myself and getting people to take my work seriously in the beginning. Starting out, I didn’t always have the best equipment or the resources I wanted, so I had to work with what I had and stay consistent.
Another challenge was balancing life, family, and photography while still trying to grow my brand. There were times when things moved slowly, moments of doubt, and times when support wasn’t always there. But those experiences taught me patience, discipline, and how important it is to keep believing in yourself even when things get tough.
What kept me going was the people who supported me and believed in my vision. Most importantly, my kids became my biggest motivation. They remind me every day why I keep pushing forward and why I want to continue building something meaningful through NewLineUp Photography.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a photographer and creative who focuses on capturing real moments, creativity, and emotion through my work. Over the years, I’ve worked on fashion shoots, portraits, events, lifestyle photography, and creative projects that allow people to express themselves and tell their stories. I’m known for bringing good energy to my shoots, making people feel comfortable in front of the camera, and creating visuals that feel authentic and memorable.
What I’m most proud of is being able to build NewLineUp Photography from the ground up and continue growing through consistency and passion. I started with just a vision and turned it into something people recognize and support today. Seeing my work inspire others, connect with different people, and create opportunities means a lot to me.
What sets me apart is my creativity, my eye for detail, and the way I connect with people. I don’t just take pictures — I try to capture personality, confidence, and real emotion in every shot. I also wanted my brand to stand out from the beginning, which is why I created the name NewLineUp Photography instead of simply using my own name. I always wanted my work and brand to have its own identity and leave a lasting impression.
More than anything, I stay motivated by my supporters and my kids. They push me to keep improving, stay creative, and continue building something meaningful through my photography journey.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like best about Newark is the culture, the people, and the creativity that comes from the city. Newark has a lot of talent and real energy, and growing up there helped shape who I am today. The city has strong community roots, diversity, and so many different stories that inspire me creatively. A lot of my motivation and perspective comes from being raised there, and it taught me how to hustle, stay focused, and keep pushing no matter what.
What I like least is that sometimes the city doesn’t always get the recognition or opportunities it deserves. There’s so much talent in Newark, but not everyone gets the support, exposure, or resources needed to fully grow. I’ve also seen how negativity and struggles in the environment can hold people back at times. But at the same time, those challenges are part of what builds resilience and pushes people like me to create opportunities for ourselves and inspire others coming from the same place.
