Check Out Angelina Crosby’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelina Crosby.

Hi Angelina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my photography journey back in 2020 when I purchased my first working camera which had been a Polaroid Now!. I only began playing around with it, taking random photos of friends, nature etc. it wasn’t until 2022 when I finally got a digital camera (My Canon t7) from a pawn shop of all places, it was history from that moment on. My biggest inspiration for my photography is and has always been music. Music shapes the way I edit, what I focus on when shooting, and getting me motivated. I’m always listening to music when I go out to take photos, and often try my best to pair the matching song with every set of photos I post. Photography for me is a way to hold onto and remember the beauty of the life I’m living and have lived. I want to always remember in moments where things may not feel great or work out, that one way or another life is beautiful and things do get better. I find a major comfort in my work, and to be able to work with musicians that are inspiring, which is my ultimate goal with my photography – to take portraits of artists. Portraits that show them in their rawness, styled to broadcast their perception of the world that inspired the music they created, and edited to match their music.
I don’t intend to set this nearly 10 yr old camera down anytime soon, and hope to continue to inspire and work with others.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My photography journey has definitely not been easy, nor did it start out easy either. I went through a 3 year long period of constantly deleting my account due to lack of engagement, and just feeling like I wasn’t good enough, or my work wasn’t provoking enough. I was very hard on myself for the longest time, and it took me a while and a lot of experimenting to find my specific style. I think only once you discover what works for you, do you begin to really fall into it. Once I built that confidence back up again and found my editing style, I created a new account and got to work.
I try to encourage photographers no matter what stage they’re in, to never give up, do not lose steam for something you love just because it doesn’t get the traction you were hoping for. Do not post for the likes or shares either, post for yourself.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My name is Angelina Crosby. I’m a 29-year-old professional photographer from Southwest Michigan. I specialize in nature photography, a focus that has been consistently reflected throughout the photography pages and portfolios I’ve created.
I’m becoming mostly known for working with local musicians in my area and doing portrait work for them, which is what I’d like to begin focusing more on. I’m very proud of the other artists I’ve inspired that have reached out to me, and my photo collective I started last year to help other creatives in the area connect with each other, and have a safe community to be a part of.
I’m not so sure of what sets me apart from others, I’ve never been asked that question before or have thought of it. I honestly don’t feel there is much that sets creatives apart from others aside from their process perhaps. However we are all similar in the sense that we love what we do, and we love to create.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I love working with others and welcome anyone interested in collaborating to reach out via Instagram or email. I offer a sliding-scale pricing model because I believe everyone deserves access to quality photography without financial barriers.

If you’d like to support my work, a simple share, like, or recommendation is always greatly appreciated.
