Check Out Alexis Montana’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Montana.

Hi Alexis, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started in October of 2019. I was looking for a creative outlet because I was going to school and working full-time. My husband (boyfriend at the time) was about to be leaving for bootcamp also and I knew I needed something to keep me busy. I started by creating an Instagram and posting my earrings on there. When covid hit, I was able to put so much more time into my little side hustle. During that time, I realized I could possibly pursue this as a career if I put my mind to it. I moved to a new city and decided to take this on full-time. What started as a little hobby quickly turned into a full-time business and I am so incredibly thankful!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say the biggest struggles have been figuring out taxes, expenses, and how to build a website. The not-so-fun things about having a small business! Not to mention trying to figure out what products work best for my medium. I have definitely had some mess-ups while experimenting.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I mainly create clay earrings! I have started dabbling with cement pieces also. I would describe my work as unique, art for your ears. I am constantly creating new pieces to keep your earring collection growing with beautiful pieces! I would say I am known most for my celestial earrings. I create a lot of pieces with moons, suns, stars, and crystals.

I am most proud of the fact that I have been able to make art my career. Growing up I have always been artistic and now as an adult, it blows my mind that I can make a living from it!

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Authenticity matters the most to me. The clay earring world is ever-growing and it’s become hard to standout. I try my hardest to make sure my creations are MINE and unique to my brand. I think it’s important to be proud of what you create knowing that it is yours and no one else’s.
