Tiera Lanae shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Tiera , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I pride myself on waking up slow and not in a hurry because I’ve learned that can bring on anxiety. So I typically wake up pray, meditate, prioritize what I need to do that day and set alarms so I won’t forget lol. After I get my kids off to school I head to social media to post on my business pages, have breakfast and remind myself how great I am.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Watered Flowers is a unique mental health stationary company that specializes in inspiration. We have mentored women and young girls to their greatest potential. Also, our products are designed to curate a different but positive outlook on life in our customers.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I wrote this poem in the 12th grade and to me, it was just a poem but to my teacher it was a signature peace. She invited the poetry society which was a program at that time to hear it and they published it. I was 17 at the time and I felt like “wow, maybe I do have something”and that was a powerful moment for me.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Writing! I am the oldest of five children and sometimes as the big sister we keep our issues and problems to ourselves but writing was my way of release. I wrote when I was happy, sad, unsure, or whatever feeling I had. Once I got it out, I felt so much better. My pen and notebook was my bestfriend.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, I am the same person everywhere I am and go. I do not know how to imitate anything else. I don’t associate myself in places where I cannot be myself because that attacks my mental health and will bring on anxiety and then I start to second guess myself. So I choose to be me in every facet. Online, in person, at an event, at home. I’m always the same person.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Mental health and how impactful it is in our day to day. How trauma has played a part in we have this mental health crisis today. Our mental health is vital for day to day functioning and taking care of yourself is just important as everything you do.
