We recently had the chance to connect with Mimi Brock and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mimi , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
One of the things I’m most proud of is that even at my age, I stay consistent and I never forget why God gave me these gifts. Behind the scenes, I’m always working, even when people don’t see it, and I’m thankful I get to build something. I work really hard at my modeling, acting, writing, and being an entrepreneur. A lot of people don’t know that I’m always practicing at home running lines, posing, and learning new things. I’m also building my Mimilicious brand, and I’m really proud of that because it’s something that I dreamed about and now it’s happening for real.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Amia “Mimi” Brock, and I’m a seven-year-old rising star from Detroit. I’m a model, actress, author, entrepreneur, and the owner of my own brand, Mimilicious. One of the things I’m really proud of is that I just hosted my very first Gospel Fashion Show, and it went amazing. I brought together designers, kids, families, and the whole community, and it was so much fun. I also made my acting debut in the movie Love After Holidays , which just premiered on BET+, so if you’re reading this, you can go watch it right now. Along with acting and modeling, I love working on my Mimilicious brand and creating fun, inspiring products for girls and women. I’m hardworking, creative, and full of faith, and I hope I inspire other kids to know that they can shine too.”
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
When I think about who impacted me the most in my past, the first people I think about are my mom and my grandmother. My mom saw me first she believed in me before anybody else did. She’s the one who helps me with my dreams, my goals, and everything I do. She always tells me that I can do anything through faith and hard work, and that makes me feel brave and confident.
My grandmother also shaped who I am in so many ways. I spent a lot of time with her growing up, and she inspired my writing because I would make stories about the fun moments we shared. But she also inspired my acting. She’s a very funny, down-to-earth person, and the way she dresses, switches her hairstyles, and makes everyone laugh made me want to act just like her. I used to imitate her when I was little, and that’s really how my acting started. I wanted to be like her full of personality, full of joy, and not afraid to shine.
So my mom and my grandmother helped make me the model, actress, and author I am today, and I’m really grateful for both of them.
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
When I was younger, my cousin and I got to attend a model call. It was her first time modeling, so I shared some helpful tips. She was nervous at first, but she gained confidence and did great. We both ended up getting chosen to model in the show.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. I’m 7 and confident. I like being myself and helping others feel confident. My family and friends are important to me. My mom teaches me to always be myself.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that when I’m gone, people will look back on my life and remember me as a young person who was confident, driven, and supported by a caring community. I want to be remembered for my smile, my outgoing personality, and my love for connecting with others and helping them feel confident.
