An Inspired Chat with Jr. Bernard Allen of Pontiac

Jr. Bernard Allen shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Bernard , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
The most surprising thing I’ve learned about my customers is I can’t please everyone but my goal is to strive for the best quality as possible.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Bernard Allen Jr. Born and raised in Pontiac, Michigan. I specialize in high quality made from scratch pudding. What makes my pudding so special and unique is the recipe has been passed down in my family from TylerTown, Mississippi for generations. It’s been my favorite dessert my Granny would make since I was kid. I am grateful to share something so special to me with the world for people to enjoy as well. I am currently trying to expand my menu and incorporate new flavors.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Honestly I wouldn’t want to go back to the past because the past is what shaped me into the Man I amToday. The very exact moment that shaped the way I see the world happened on 08/08/2023. On that specific day my Son was born. Ever since that day I solely make decisions that’s best for my family and the greater good. Which comes with daily sacrifices and a forever responsibility I am grateful for.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I feel like no matter what you do. Whenever something isn’t going right everyone has the thought of giving up. In times of that matter I push myself more. I’m well aware it will forever be ups and downs; but to keep going is what matters most.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version is the real me. No matter where I am or who I’m speaking to, I will forever remain true to myself. I’m a firm believer in if I have to change who I am around certain people or environments my life would be a complete facade. What matters the most to me in life is living life in your own terms and don’t ever ask for permission to be You!

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I will forever give everything my best even if no one praised me. The reason is because I get satisfaction from achieving goals and over exceeding my own expectations.
