Britney Slater shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Britney , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me starts bright and early. My husband Chris and I like to start our mornings with a workout… t’s our way of setting the tone for a productive day. After that, I take our dog, Cash, out for a walk before we head to our print shop IBRAND U. We usually work from around 11 to 6, but some days we’ll stay later if we’re in the zone or have extra projects to finish up. Once we get home, I take a little time to relax and grab something to eat before switching gears to film content for YouTube and my social media channels. The evenings are my creative time, and then I wind down and recharge to do it all over again the next day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Meet Britney Slater — also known as @BritBratReviews
Hi! I’m Britney Slater, but most people online know me as BritBratReviews. I’m 38 years old and originally from Lansing, Michigan. After graduating from Central Michigan University in 2011 with a B.A. in Elementary Education, I moved to Detroit in 2012 with my now husband, Chris.
I spent six wonderful years teaching before deciding to take a leap of faith into entrepreneurship. Together, Chris and I launched our marketing company, Initial Brands Inc., and last year we expanded by opening our own full-service custom print shop, IBRAND U. We’re proud to work with schools, non-profits, and small businesses across Michigan — and even more proud that IBRAND U was recently named the #1 print shop in Westland!
Outside of business, I’m a passionate content creator with over 30,000 subscribers on YouTube and 70,000+ followers on Instagram, where I share product reviews and lifestyle content. I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with amazing brands, including Luc Belaire, where I’m currently a brand ambassador.
When I’m not working or creating, you’ll usually find me spending time with my husband Chris and our adorable dog, Cash. I’m a lover of all things pink, and I enjoy movies, reading, shopping, and most of all… family!
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was younger, I used to think that when people said, “You can be anything you want to be,” it was just something adults said to make kids feel good. I never really believed it was possible to have more than one dream or career. But as I’ve grown, I’ve learned that’s absolutely not true. Today, I’m living proof that you can wear many hats and find success in different passions… from being an educator to an entrepreneur, content creator, and brand ambassador. I’ve realized that we don’t have to limit ourselves to one path; we can create the life we imagine and evolve as our dreams do.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that held me back the most was worrying too much about what others thought of me. For a long time, I let people’s opinions influence my choices and second-guessed myself because of it. Once I learned to let go of that fear and focus on what truly made me happy, I felt a huge sense of freedom. Since then, I’ve grown so much and achieved things I never thought I could when I was living for others’ approval.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes… the public version of me is absolutely real. I’ve never been anyone but myself, whether in private or in public. What you see is what you get; I don’t change who I am depending on the people I’m around. The only difference is that I choose not to share everything about my life publicly. Some things are personal, and I like keeping certain parts of my life just for me. Having that boundary doesn’t make me any less authentic it just means I value my privacy.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m alone. Surprisingly, solitude has become something I really value. It gives me the space to reflect, recharge, and continue learning about myself… something I’ve come to realize is a lifelong process. Those quiet moments help me stay grounded and allow me to show up as the best version of myself for the people I love.
