Rising Stars: Meet Stino

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stino.

Hi Stino, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I used to doodle as a kid and throughout high school but never saw a lot of successful artists, so I never thought to take it seriously until after I finished 4 years in the Marine Corps and was figuring out what direction I wanted to pursue. I started drawing in my spare time, and it turned into staying up to 3, 4 o’clock in the morning, and I just never looked back since then.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Ha! Life isn’t a smooth ride, but it’s about enjoying the drive. Inspiration has been a struggle from time to time. I’ve gone almost a year without creating anything and was frustrated with myself because I had no spark, but it helped me to develop patience in the process. Also, sometimes you gotta put the brush to the canvas and just see where it goes, having no expectations and letting your imagination roam. Eventually, the inspiration comes, and you take it and run with that shit!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I do a lot from painting jackets, acrylic pour art, illustrations, and abstracts on canvas. I like to explore different avenues to find my niche. I specialize in acrylic pouring, my jackets and pour art get the most attention. I’m proud of taking a risk to pursue art and not as a career but to take it seriously and put my all into it, believing that it will make room for you and, take you places, connect you with others just by utilizing your gift.

What sets me apart from other artists is a difficult question to answer for the fact that I feel like a lot of artists are somewhat the same in the sense that we have this passion for creating, we pour everything into our crafts, and you hang on for the ride no matter where it takes you. I’m just having fun with it at the end of the day to answer the question.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Probably that I did 4 years in the military and checked out a few different countries.
