Meet Dre Undecided of Belleville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dre Undecided

Dre, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out in Muskegon, MI writing music as part of a 4 man R&B group called Tru Gentlemen at Muskegon High School as a teenager. I then moved to New York to exclusively write songs but i struggled to find people to sing my songs. Over time I moved to New Jersey and practiced singing, harmonizing, and recording to start my solo career as a singer. One day, one of the guys who mixes my reference tracks sent me over a file of my music and had it packaged together as an album. They suggested that I make this my official release, and so the process began. We started coming up with concepts, shooting the videos, and we are currently in the marketing process of my debut album “B Who Ya Wanna B”. My music has taken me all over the country, and all over South America. My plan is to release a few more independent projects and then return exclusively to writing which has always been my first love.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Music is a tough business and requires thick skin. I’ve dealt with what I’d say most successful artist have dealt with, things like poor performances, unruly crowds, and creative differences. To me this was all necessary as it helped mold me into who I am today and it helped me develop my fanbase as well as my craft. Nothing is free so as an independent artist I had to learn how to balance my music expenses as well as my personal finances. Knowledge is power and I’ve been blessed to meet insiders with the patience to teach and the willingness to share resources and contacts. My faith in God plays a large part in my success and personal growth. Lastly you have to be able to separate your professional life as an artist from your personal life as a parent, brother, partner, friend, etc. Unfortunately everyone isn’t built for the journey but remembering it’s “your” journey provides a calming perspective for me as an artist.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I make music, all genres but my favorites are hands down R&B and hip hop. I specialize in blending rapping and singing into melodies. I’d say I’m known for my ability to write. I’m known to be a jack of all trades when it comes to writing, rapping, and singing, thus the name “undecided” because I love each of these aspects of music too much to choose just one.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I attend a lot of webinars that music platforms like Spotify and Tidal provide. When you create artist pages on these platforms you are invited to attend. You get to listen to and interact with people who’ve been where you’re trying to go with your music and who’ve been in the studios with your favorite artists. I also read song writing books. I really like to read biographies from my favorite artists to learn how they got started and what they experienced along the way to stardom.
