Life & Work with Visionaire Nick

Today we’d like to introduce you to Visionaire Nick.

Hi Visionaire, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always had a love for acting as far as I could remember. As a kid, I would often imitate my favorite actors’ voices, maybe re-enact a scene from a movie or stage play, and just dream of becoming an actor one day. In high school and college, I played as Malcolm X in a stage play. I love writing just as much; I’m writing something now… hopefully, it will be in production by 2nd or 3rd qtr. next year.

Now they’re making movies damn near every day in Detroit; I felt like they’re right here in my city, so why not get in on some of the fun? I’m always out networking, going to auditions, and working on improving my skills every day.

I’m the lead character in the upcoming series SHOTS. I play as Montez “Monk” Johnson. I’m expecting that to premiere Nov/2022. And other projects I’ve worked on or I’m currently working on are Choices & Consequences, Black Strait Blues, Wanted Love, My Little Sister’s Wedding, Sons Of A Preacher, and two-stage plays… Take Care of Home Or Somebody Else Will, and Yo Man Is Cheating On Us. The stage plays are expected to air on Tubi maybe in November/2022.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say a smooth road. By the grace of God, I’ve had to overcome some challenges in my life that could’ve broke me if I didn’t have God in my life. I am the result of answered prayers and God’s favor on my life. It’s so easy to judge people and criticize them for whatever reasons. But nobody recognizes when you have God in your life, and they fail to see the miracles happening to you and for you on a daily basis. This ain’t no luck. I give ALL praises to the most high God. My testimony is deep, and I get to share it very soon.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an actor from Detroit. Detroit is like the Independent Movie Capital of the world. No more going to LA or New York to make movies… we’re getting it done right here in the D! So yes, I am an actor from Detroit, but I wouldn’t wear the “I’m a Detroit actor” label. I can venture and travel beyond Detroit; I’m not limited to just Detroit. It is my lifelong dream to be one of the best to ever do it. Every day I move with that purpose.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Covid-19 caught us all by surprise. It was much bigger than we knew, so, after a while, we began taking it seriously. The shutdown didn’t hurt everybody. It served us all differently. For me, it was opportunity to re-invent myself. I read tons of scripts and studied how various actors developed their character or how they broke down the script. And it’s still an ongoing learning process.
