Life & Work with Taylor Walker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Walker.

Hi Taylor, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Getting where I am today took a mixture of chance, hard work, and making some really amazing friends.

The first time I ever managed social media was 10 years ago at the Hilton Waikiki Kuhio, for their 24-hour restaurant. I had worked there as a server and was now moving into a management position I was so excited about. My general manager at the time was taking photos and managing our Instagram account. He asked me to help him snap a few pictures one day for our feed and I told him I would edit them a bit with some promotional flares. He was impressed and passed on the responsibility of running the social media page. I was able to work closely with the chefs and staff to create fun and inviting content for the only 24-hour restaurant in Waikiki. I have always been a creative, growing up submerged in culture and art. But this was something new and exciting, I fell in love with it.

After my husband and I got married we moved to the states and soon after that, I got pregnant with our daughter. I stayed home with her for the first 3 years and continued my passion for media creation, but now with my personal social media, documenting our moves, first steps, recipes and the occasional tree pose. I stayed busy with family life, social media, and freelance modeling, and commercial work. I knew I wanted to go back to work and I knew I wanted to help people, but I was lost as to what I really wanted to really pursue. I started bartending at a local bar after we moved to Michigan so I could make some friends and some of my own money so I wouldn’t put us into debt with my trips to Whole Foods. Bartending in a small but very connected town set me up with the friends that helped me get to where I am today.

When COVID-19 came, I was of course at home with my family like the rest of the world, and I remembered how much I loved being home with my family 100% of the time. I held the vision of retiring my husband, homeschooling my daughter, and running a successful business to make this all possible. Of course, I did some Social Selling the first 2 years of COVID (like 75% of the rest of women in lockdown lol) and I was surprised to have made money, go on some amazing trips, and meet my Best Friend for life. The passion for social selling came to an end sooner than later but equipped me with the tools and grit to pursue my own business.

In the middle of 2021, I was reconnected with a very good friend that I had made while bartending. She was opening up a Medical Spa downtown and brought me on as a multi-Media Director. Soon after, I launched “Taylor’d Media” after having many inquiries into my work on the Med Spa page. I was flooded with clients like I could not believe, everything from social media to podcast producing. With my concentration on helping small business owners scale their brands and learn aesthetics, I have found such a deeper passion in my job. Personally, knowing the families, I am helping is the most rewarding thing I could ever ask for.

Building the “Taylor’d Media” brand is something that makes my heart to full. To walk in my purpose every day is something I had always dreamt of and I see if unfolding like I thought was only possible in my dreams. I am now in an office space with a very good friend and just brought on my first intern. I am so incredibly grateful to my friends, family, and clients for making this all possible.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Sure, the road has had its challenges, but I take them as learning experiences. I way to slow down, observe, learn and overcome. I would say my biggest challenge has been to be a bit more organized. I am naturally a very “go with the flow, take your time” kinda gal.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I own a media management company called “taylor’d media”. I do social media management, content creation packages, re-branding, business development, aesthetics coaching, and podcast producing.

What makes you happy?

My family! They are my entire world, my “why”, my life.
