Life & Work with Rashida McGuire

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rashida McGuire.

Hi Rashida, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Hello, my name is Rashida McGuire, mother of 2 beautiful children. I’m the owner of Creative Kids Learning LLC, “We make learning fun.” I got my first job as a childcare assistant in a childcare center in 2011, just assisting in the infant classroom. In the next few years, I continued searching for my career purpose. In 2014, I came across Bundles of Blessing childcare center. I realized what my purpose was, to be an educator. Everything we taught the kids consisted of being creative while providing the best quality ECE program. In the summer of 2019, I came up with the idea to make learning boards, educational workbooks, busy boxes, and study tables for children to keep their minds active & growing year-round. The first learning board I made was just for a hobby. I decided to post my creativity on my Facebook page. My post had so many inquiries I was so excited and overwhelmed at the same time. I wasn’t expecting my learning boards to draw so much attention. After so much recognition and praise, I began to sell my products online & at pop-up shops. In 2021 I enrolled in school to strengthen my knowledge in Early Childhood Education. I have a passion for encouraging and helping younger children to reach their full potential inside & outside of the classroom. I attend Bryant & Stratton College to obtain my Associate’s in early childhood education. I’ve been recognized for being on the dean’s list twice with a 4.0 overall goal grade point average. I also work full-time in an ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) elementary classroom. I have high hopes in becoming a preschool teacher. Although this journey wasn’t easy, I enjoyed every second of the challenge.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
During my journey, I’ve encountered a few bumps. As a result of the COVID epidemic in the United States in 2020, every small business owner was forced to cut back on their services, including myself. In addition, I left my job to assist teaching my kids online. It was challenging to reach parents during this period, but I was still able to provide my resources to some children struggling academically.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I provide educational tools for children who need that extra help academically or preparing for school. Learning Boards are for visual learners. They consist of basic materials such as:

Alphabet (Upper & Lower Case)

Numbers 1-100 (or what the parent think is necessary)

Days of the week

Months of the year

Left and right hand

Money (dollar & coin values)

They’ll also get a choice of the child’s favorite character!

I always ask the parents or guardians if there are any specifics they’ll need for the child before adding these materials.

Educational Workbooks consist of Math, reading comprehension, spelling words, phonics, science, grammar, and social studies according to the child’s grade level and what the parents think is necessary.

Busy Boxes come in sets of 3. The items in the boxes name tracing worksheets, coloring activities, painting, play-doh, Legos, sensory toys, on-the-road scavenger hunts, pencils, dry erase markers, plushies, and more.

Study Tables- Made out of durable wood. They are about 2-3 feet tall. They come with whichever material they think is necessary for the child & their favorite character.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was when I was about eight years old. I remember I always wanted to place school with my older cousin. She’d always let me be the teacher & she’d be the student. I remember grading a ton of homework and spelling tests for invisible students. It was a sign now that I look back at my childhood. WoW!
