Life & Work with Laurn Valentine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laurn Valentine.

Hi Laurn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I became sick and was in the house for so long I started reading different genres of books on my kindle. Shifters, witches, druids, books of that nature, however whenever I would try and find a fae book they were always evil or bad and I didn’t understand it, but I was determined to find one good fae book. One day I was searching Amazon like crazy and I spoke out, “are there no good-fae books written’? And clear as day a voice said if you want it write it. For the first few days, I ignored it. I’m no writer, and I’m sure not an author. But that voice lingered in the background of my brain. So, on the third day I picked up my laptop and it was if the story was waiting for me. It just flowed, everything flowed out of me, and it flowed so fast that I had to grab a pin and paper to jot down ideas and storylines. That was in Oct. 2019 when The Cursed Fae: The Power That Destroys By Lacie Lane was created. I decided to use a Pseudonym because I wanted my work to be judged by how good it is and not from who knows me. I have been blessed to have the inspiration to begin the fae series and right now I am working on my eighth book in the series.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road was smooth when it came to writing the books. The struggles are in getting the book picked up by an agent or a publishing house. I did publish myself on Amazon, so that was a great relief, to see my book in print, however marketing the book and getting it recognized is not an easy thing to do. I’m going to keep going and hopefully, I will be able to travel and go to different book fairs.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At the current moment, I am an online bookkeeper for a therapist and that is going good.

I don’t actually specialize in anything in particular, I assist Ms. Ann Bey with her lives promoting her organization of S.M.A.C Talk, I have designed a few websites for individuals, and I have done my own videos for my books that I’ve posted on FB, Twitter, and Instagram.

The thing I am most proud of is my books, I did something that was out of my wheelhouse and that puts a smile on my face.

To be honest, I don’t think anything sets me apart from others, there are other people in the world that have done and can do what I have did, I’m just unique in the way that I did what I did for myself, the story that came to me was for me to deliver to the world and I’m happy that I did.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success with trying to do what you feel in your heart, rather you fail or not if you try you are successful.
