Today we’d like to introduce you to J1Hunnit.
Hi J1Hunnit, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Majority of my family is from Flint, Michigan such as my grandmother & others and my mom was born & raised in Rockford, Illinois. I was born In Little Rock, Arkansas, Raised In Smackover, Arkansas, my mother moved us to Dallas, Texas when I was about 11 years old. I graduated high school there.
I started making music in about the 10th grade, didn’t take it serious until about late 2019 – 2020.
I signed to the HipHopLab of Detroit, Michigan in 2021.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a very rocky road, but there’s a lot to learn and room to make the creative mistake in the beginning of the process. I struggled with investing, and paying for what I needed to push my music, I struggled with losing friends and a lot of people around me not understanding the vision, I’ve dealt with people feeling entitled, and people that’s just don’t want to see me win.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an all-around artist, I pride myself in not being boxed in creatively and being a workhorse when it comes to burying myself in the studio and perfecting my craft. I’m known for a being a laid-back lyricist with Substance and game for any crowd. I touch on a lot of the real that goes on in society and everyday life.
Any big plans?
I plan on being one of the greats, I’m going out like Jay-z and Wayne when it’s all said and done.
