Today we’d like to introduce you to Twoin Bernard.
Twoin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Starting at very young age I would spearhead events for churches, organizations, and eventually College. I’d always have so many creative ideas/concepts that I by any means necessary had to make come to life. Curating color schemes, and uniform concepts was always my absolute favorite part. Ever since then my experiences have now led me to styling and creating Directing for different musical aggregations, organizations, dance groups, and brands and artists.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say the road has been easy because I live and breathe creative direction and styling, and it’s been that way since I was a kid. I’ve been in this realm working and just creatively expressing myself long before I made the decision to do it professionally. I decided to venture out professionally in 2020, but long before then I had a brand and a following that believed in me and wanted to work with me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a fashion stylist and a creative director. I specialize in turning visions and ideas into experiences. I’m known for always having crazy out of the box ideas that I’ll make happen by any means necessary. I’m also known for having bold style, like layering bold colors and patterns to express myself, and my personality through fashion.
I’m proud that I’ve been able to successfully style and create here in Detroit professionally. I never thought I’d be able to live out the dream here in my hometown. I’ve always heard “You need to move to NYC or LA your eye for fashion is insane”. Though I still entertain the thought of relocation for more opportunities, I’m grateful for so much experience here in Detroit.
Even while attending college I’d always hear from my classmates “Everyday I wait for you to arrive in class just to see what you’ll wear, It’s like everyday is a fashion show on campus with you”.
I’m also known for having several years of experience working in high end retail. This made it so easy to just look at clothes and easily curate different looks everyday for work. I even built relationships with my customers and created unique styling experiences for them.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I could never go without acknowledging my parents and grand parents who started me off as a young 4 year old. They had me dressed in 3 piece suits, layered with matching trench coats, and shearlings, and long belted pelle pelle coats every Sunday for church and everyday life. Many times I’d hear “Boy you sharper than the deacons”. Some might even say they created a fashion Monster 🙃😂… but I’m so grateful for them.
I’m also so very grateful for my clients who continuously support me, and even the people who pushed me and always expressed that wanted to work with me before I Even considered doing it professionally.. I’m even proud that I’ve been able to travel with clients and even have virtual styling experiences with clients in other states.
