Inspiring Conversations with Staci Armock of Armock Acres

Today we’d like to introduce you to Staci Armock.

Hi Staci, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Armock Acres began in May of 2020, when I decided to open a roadside flower stand. I previously worked in landscaping, advertising and then became a stay-at-home Mom in 2019. The rising cost of daycare could no longer justify me working every day with three little ones at home.

The roadside stand took off quickly. We were located on the main road in and out of town. It was exactly what I needed to motivate me to keep going. Although while living in the city there was not any room to expand, I knew I wanted to grow. In the fall of 2021, we had gotten the opportunity that our family was waiting for.

I am a sixth-generation farmer, currently raising the seventh generation, so agriculture is a stable foundation of my life. It’s a part of who we are. When my husband, Russell, and I received the opportunity to purchase the family farm, we were ecstatic! The farm focuses on row-crops including corn, soybeans, and wheat, but on a quarter acre of the homestead sits my flower field.

The spring and fall are very busy around here, as the row-crops operation and the flower field both need great attention. I grow many varieties by seed and purchase plugs from wholesale companies year-round. The field has continued to expand every year with thousands of seedlings, hundreds of shrubs, thousands of spring bulbs… it’s a beautiful sight!

I offer a summer subscription service, sell to local florists, and refresh bud vases at Chick-fil-A weekly. Event work such as weddings, funeral, bridal showers, baby showers, and holiday parities have become a large focus on income for the business.
I also work with local businesses such as Ed Dunneback and Girls to provide flowers for workshop events, vendor markets and various needs at their establishment.

While my kids are now all in school, the flower business has developed so much that I am able to stay at home and continue this line of work while helping on the farm. It is extremely rewarding to see all of my hard work take hold and be built into something that I dreamt of years ago.

Throughout this journey, I noticed the great JOY flowers brought to others. It is encouraging and become my motto that flowers bring JOY, that’s why I do this. Whether I deliver a funeral arrangement, bring DIY buckets to a school event or setup at a wedding, customers are always happen to see what flowers can do to a space and the immense JOY they can bring.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Living in the city initially was difficult because of the lack of space.

Now, juggling family time, farming row crops and the flower business can be a lot during the spring and fall.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
