Inspiring Conversations with Noelle Smith of Birth In PowerLLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noelle Smith

Hi Noelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Noelle Smith and I am the owner of Birth In Power LLC. I came to birthwork in 2022 shortly after having my first son as a newly postpartum mom. The experience of going through pregnancy, birth, and then also postpartum was what drove me to go searching for a job where I could help moms during this transitional time. At that point I came across a job listing for a doula and jumped fully in. Postpartum work was where I started because it was easier to plan with having a newborn baby and being able to schedule shifts however fast forward to 2025, I have two little ones now and am also both a birth and postpartum doula as well as a midwife’s assistant attending homebirths. Additionally I’m also in nursing school simultaneously training to eventually become a midwife myself and move into a position of supporting moms from the front lines. I found my true passion in birthwork and have never once felt turned away from it. In the same realm, a recent hobby I’ve picked up is photography which has really come into play in the labor and delivery room capturing moments for families to keep as precious memories.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Honestly, it has been pretty smooth so far. There’s been a couple bumps in the road but I’ve had good support from my family to help me easily overcome the hills.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Birth In Power LLC got its name from the idea of tapping into your internal power to birth the way you want and have your needs respected without question. The goal is to empower parents-to-be to take control of their birth and have an experience that they can look back on with joy.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years I see my doula practice transitioning to a midwifery practice. I plan to attend both home and hospital births once I’m a certified midwife and will eventually own my own birth center.
