Inspiring Conversations with Nicole Saleh of Mavella Home

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Saleh

Hi Nicole, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my business, Mavella Home, almost seven years ago. My business name is a fusion of my children’s names – Matteo, Ava, and Ella. I was working in the Marketing/Advertising space for over 10 years and felt very uninspired, so I decided to go after what I was really passionate about, which was Interior Design and expressing myself creatively. I love what I do and have not looked back since. Mavella Home continues to grow and thrive, and I have also worked in the commercial space this last year, working on a spa in Royal Oak, a non-profit office space in Sterling Heights, and a dental office in Shelby Township. I did not think that when I embarked on this journey almost seven years ago, that I would have worked with over 50 clients, as well as countless projects.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In this type of work, every project brings challenges, and I have learned that this is just the nature of the business. However, with every challenge comes all of the lessons and knowledge that you store for the successive projects. I don’t believe that I will ever stop learning in this industry and I hope that I will continue to evolve as a solopreneur, as well as a creative designer.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Mavella Home?
Mavella Home specializes in designing comprehensive residential spaces that feel classic and timeless. I don’t believe in following trends, but in designing homes that continue to feel relevant for many years to come. Mavella Home’s signature aesthetic is modern organic, which focuses on clean lines, while incorporating organic materials, to keep it feeling warm, inviting, and balanced.

I feel most proud when people notice that a space was designed by Mavella Home because there is a consistency with the aesthetic of the brand, and that is what sets us apart from others. I’m also very proud of the relationships that I have built with my clients. I appreciate all of the referrals because it highlights their trust in me, and I do not take that for granted. I understand that designing someone’s home is a privilege and that is not lost on me.

I want the Mavella Home brand to be synonymous with outstanding customer service and design. My mission is to elevate your home to its fullest potential.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
When I sign on a new client, I always make a promise to them and that promise is to treat their project as if it were my own home. I have kept that intention from the beginning, and I believe that is why my business has been so successful. When clients embark on a remodel or renovation project, it can feel very daunting and overwhelming. They need to know that whoever they hire to design and coordinate their project has their back and will be honest, open, and advocate for them. I firmly believe in setting the proper expectations from the beginning, so that clients are well-informed and not taken by surprise. It’s a win-win for everyone when you operate this way.
