Inspiring Conversations with Michaela Robinson of Crescent Wax Candles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michaela Robinson.

Hi Michaela, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a candle lover for as long as I can remember. In 2017, I discovered an article on the dangers of some mass-produced synthetically fragranced candles. This is what sparked my passion for non-toxic candles and candle making. It took me until 2019 to gain the courage to go ahead and start my candle business.

Throughout the years, with the help from my supporters, I’ve been able to offer not only affordable, non-toxic, luxury candles, but now candle accessories, wax warmers, and even room sprays.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Much like most small businesses, the road is never really starts off smooth. We just know the bumpy ride is worth it.

I’d say my biggest struggle early on was accepting the fact that what I thought was an amazing idea (scent, product, etc.) my customers may not have agreed. As a business owner, I realized you have to be open to change. Learning and researching the candle industry is what helped open my mind.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Based out of Grand Rapids, MI, Crescent Wax takes pride in offering well-scented luxury candles, free of dyes, toxins, and harsh chemicals. All of our candles are made with all-natural soy wax and are all handmade & hand-poured.

We enjoy providing candle lovers with the luxury candle experience, without the luxury price and without compromising the health of everyone in their home.

Our name originates from the Waxing Crescent phase of the moon. “The waxing moon represents intention, hopes, and wishes. After recharging under the new moon, your intentions and desires are ready to be planted.”

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My father has always been my biggest mentor and cheerleader since I started my business. Him being an owner of multiple businesses (Heavy Game, Gorealla Grind, Heavy Marketing), he’s always extremely helpful when I have questions, need an opinion, or just in need of encouraging words.
