Our journey began with a shared vision to provide exceptional care that goes beyond the traditional limitations of in-network physical therapy. My fiancée, Sam, and I both worked in the field for several years, gaining firsthand experience with the constraints that insurance requirements and corporate policies can place on patient care. We saw how these limitations prevented clients from getting the care and personalized attention they truly need.

Determined to make a difference, we decided to take a leap of faith and opened Onward Physical Therapy. Our goal was simple: to create a space where health, fitness, and preventive care are prioritized, and where we could genuinely focus on the well-being of our clients without the barriers that often come with traditional healthcare models. We wanted to build a practice where time isn’t rushed, treatment plans are tailored, and every individual feels heard and supported.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We are approaching a full year of being open, and the journey has been everything from challenging to incredibly rewarding. Opening Onward meant facing new challenges, learning the ins and outs of running a business, stepping away from the familiar comfort of established clinics, and helping clients understand the value of out-of-network care. Despite the challenges, our belief in providing the highest quality care kept us motivated and moving forward.

The experience has pushed us to grow not only as therapists but also as business owners. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our community, friends, and family who believed in our mission from the start. Their encouragement and trust have been instrumental in our success, and we truly couldn’t have done it without them. It’s been an empowering journey, and seeing our clients thrive because of the care we provide makes it all worth it.

Unfortunately, as this trend grows, the quality of care often diminishes, as physical therapists are forced to see more patients in less time to meet insurance requirements.
