Hidden Gems: Meet SINAN YONO of Yono Investments Management DBA the Godfather Bistro Cigar Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to SINAN YONO.

Hi SINAN, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My bigger family and I came from Iraq between 2005 – 2013, We started studying and working in different fields. We worked in different jobs but we wanted to start a family business. We found an opportunity to purchase the Godfather Bistro and Cigar Bar in Shelby Twp and we purchased it. We are four brothers / partner in this business. Myself, Sinan (Real Estate broker and Mortgage broker), Osamah (Accountant), Laith (General Motors employee0 and Athier (Sous Chef at Birmingham Country Club). Athier lived in the Netherlands for 15+ years and learned the French cuisine, I got my Master’s in Management from Davenport University in 2019, Osamah got a Master’s degree in finance here in the US after living around 8 years in Sweden and laith is studying for engineering.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Entering a new line of business is difficult in general. We had to learn everything from zero and the hard way.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Yono Investments Management DBA the Godfather Bistro Cigar Bar?
Our bar is an upscale cigar lounge where people sit and relax with a cigar and a drink. We do offer food as well and have a full menu. Most people like the ambiance of the place, the cigar selection, food and drinks. We have enough space to host parties up to 150 people. We also host a lot of events like cigar events, bourbon tasting events … etc. The patio is perfect for the summer time with capacity of 40-50 people. We also have a private room that member can enjoy some privacy with no rent or minimum spend.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is mainly my family (wife and kids). With all the pressure of work and spending a lot of hours trying to make our life better at work, its always nice to have relaxing time with the family. Success of my business also makes me happy, not only for the revenue it generates but mainly because I know that I am putting my feet in the right place to make me successful. Customer satisfaction also makes me happy and that applies for all of my jobs. When I close a house for a real estate client, I can see how happy and excited they are and that makes me feel satisfied because I know these people have found their dream house. Also in the bar, when I hear compliments from my customers, that makes me more confident and pushes me more to offer more
