Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Anakin Chingwa and I’m a local of Northern Michigan. I decided to turn my hobbies of art and games into a business to explore history and cultures of the world.

I have been playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons since I was 10 years old. While these games are fun they don’t try to explore our own history. I wrote Colonies & Conquerors to be a game focused on history. I also made the game a single edition, I didn’t want to make something that exploits it’s players just for financial gain.

As for art, I went to school for visual art and have a Certificate of Visual Art from North Central Michigan College. Being able to be creative in today’s world gives you an edge over your competition. Also art gives a lasting impression on those that come across in your life.

As of now I run Spirit Bear Studio. It’s my professional handle online and I hope to use it to help others grow with me towards a better tomorrow. As of now I have a couple tabletop games and artwork, but I do wish to offer more to the public such as books and comics.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a rocky road here and there. The birth of my daughter was a hard point since she needed two heart surgeries after being born. I also work full time so juggling things around can be tricky.

As you know, we’re big fans of Spirit Bear Studio. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business is to sell games like Colonies & Conquerors, and custom artwork. I will be expanding my work to leave a more cultural impact for Native Americans and others as well.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I’ve always been a curious kid with the will to learn more. I also have a great laugh and a sense of humor. You have to keep laughing and pushing on, you can’t let life beat you.
