Exploring Life & Business with Stephanie Rosette of Rosette Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Rosette.

Hi Stephanie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was younger my father loved to take photos of nature. When I was old enough my dad decided that he would start teaching me how to use his camera, and I LOVED it! I would take photos of nature, random objects, and people who were close to me. The arts have always been a big part of my life. My father and I would go on road trips and we would capture every moment that we possibly could on camera. Safe to say that I fell in love with capturing moments. Unfortunately, my father was diagnosed with cancer, and we slowly stopped going out on trips and capturing moments. When he had passed away, I had lost my passion for many things that I once loved, but by the grace of God, I was introduced to my hubby! My husband has supported every little adventure that I have wanted to take in life! I had decided to pick up the camera again and begin capturing moments of life. My sister had just had a little one, and he was my main model. That spark had come back after a few years of being gone. In 2017 I had expressed to my husband that I would like to make photography a career, a career that could help other people see the beauty in capturing a memory. He encouraged me to follow my dreams. In 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 I didn’t get much business, mainly family and some close friends. I was stuck in that phase of comparing myself to every other photographer out there and simply didn’t believe that I could become all that I wanted as a photographer. But God had another plan and opened my eyes in 2021. I had gotten the courage to contact a local boutique that was doing live videos. I had mentioned that I was a photographer and would love to work with them if they were in need of someone. Little did I know, that one little half-joking message helped me become the photographer I am today. The owner of that store loved my photography and continued to book sessions with me, and even started to promote me on her live videos. I started to see more and more people booking with me, and that helped me grow. I started to become more confident and realize that my photography is perfect for those who like it! Because not every photographer is every person’s cup of tea, but I have my pot and people are overflowing it! That dream of being a photographer had become my life, and I am so happy that I get to capture moments that people cherish! That is why my slogan is “Capturing moments YOU cherish!”

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road! I had to overcome a lot of fear of entering into the photography world. There are so many other photographers out there, and I struggled with wondering if I would ever measure up to those other amazing photographers.

I also started a business with very low income, I had to start out with a 10-year-old camera and old lenses!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am the owner of Rosette Photography! I am a Metro Detroit lifestyle photographer.

I do a variety of photo sessions such as:

What helps me stand out is the warm editing styles that I use when editing photos, as well as my personality!

I am all about building others up and truly capturing those candid photos! Getting that laugh right at the perfect time.

I am most proud of how far I have come as a photographer; I have started to truly make a name for myself in the photography world.

I would love for them to know that I treat my customers like family! I love to get to know the family/ individual before I go into a session! Getting to know people helps to really capture who they are and what makes them smile!

How do you think about happiness?
There are a lot of things that make me happy! My son definitely someone who makes me happy. He is a toddler and learning so many different things in life. There is a joy that comes from looking at a little human that was created by you!

Making other people smile is something that makes me happy! I always love to see others happy, and knowing that I can put a smile on their face is an amazing feeling!

My Husband, such a supporting and loving guy, makes my world light up! He supports me in everything that I do and everything that happens in life.

And last but not least, God truly makes me happy. He has blessed me with this amazing photographer journey that I get to experience!
