Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Miller.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I initially thought that I wanted to attend medical school and become a doctor. But, when I was a junior in college and in the middle of the medical school application process, I ended up randomly finding Chinese Facial Diagnosis and just felt this inner calling of this is what I was actually meant to do. I stopped thinking about medical school and instead traveled back and forth to California to study Chinese Facial Diagnosis under the top Chinese Face Reader in the world, Lillian Bridges. It was through learning about face reading and understanding organ imbalances that I then became really interested in learning how to use nutrition therapy to help bring harmony and balance back into someone’s life and body. After I became certified in Chinese Facial Diagnosis, I obtained a Master degree in Human Clinical Nutrition and then became a Certified Nutrition Specialist to combine everything I know about facial diagnosis and what I can see in someone’s face with nutrition.
When I started looking for a job, I really struggled because I couldn’t find anyone that was combining these areas of wellness or that shared my philosophy when it came to nutrition and health. Since I was unable to find a job that fit me, I ended up opening my own business Nourish & Lift in 2020, so that I could work with clients in the capacity that I was exactly looking for. Today, I work with clients on a variety of different levels helping them better understand their bodies and the feedback they are receiving, so that they feel better and hit the goals they have set for themselves.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve had a few challenges along the way. Chinese Face Reading is not exactly an area of wellness that is well known. So, to state that I was going to completely walk away from the idea of medical school to learn about Chinese Face Reading was considered quite crazy at the time. It has also been an interesting experience trying to bring Chinese Face Reading to Michigan. I believe that I am one of the only practitioners of Chinese Face Reading in the entire state, so it’s just not simply well known or recognized. Trying to share information about face reading then and explain it has been an interesting challenge for me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Nourish & Lift ?
I specialize in Chinese Facial Diagnosis and Nutrition.
Your face shows the health and overall status of all of your organs and also shows your underlying personality characteristics: characteristics that you are proud of and characteristics that you hide from. As a practitioner of Chinese Facial Diagnosis, I work with clients on helping them move through repressed emotions, traumas, etc., so that they can heal and find wellness.
From a nutrition level, I work with clients in a variety of different ways. I do a lot of work specifically with macronutrients and in teaching clients how to work with macronutrients to have the level of body composition they are seeking. I am trained to work with all different health conditions in providing medical nutrition therapy to help heal and support any medical condition a client has.
I mix science and the knowledge of nutrition with the spiritual/intuitive aspect of face reading, so I can offer a highly transformative experience for clients that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. I’m most proud of this because it can be challenging to effectively mix these two seemingly completely different avenues into a singular experience for the client.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
It was actually through COVID that I was able to open my own business, so to a degree, COVID actually helped push me to the level that I am at today. I started Nourish & Lift at my house seeing clients because I was already working from home for my other job. I eventually became so busy seeing clients through Nourish & Lift and working my second job that it came to the point that I had to choose one or the other. I decided to go all in on my business and I’ve never looked back.
