Hi Asiel Elian, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Seven years ago, my partner and I took a microblading course in Chicago with the intention of focusing solely on eyebrow services. Both of us had young children at home and were looking for something productive to do with our time. After returning, we began renting small rooms in a vacant medical office, and as business grew, we decided to hire an esthetician to expand our offerings to include facials. This quickly took off, and we soon brought in a dermatologist to provide injectable treatments. At the time, we were one of the few in the area to combine these services.

What began as a two-person operation soon grew to a team of four, then six, prompting us to move to a larger location with better exposure. Today, we’ve transformed into a full-service medical spa, with 15 employees and a wide range of offerings. Overseen by a physician, our team includes estheticians, doctors, nurses, lash and tattoo artists, and even a small blow-dry bar in the front. We’ve become a local one-stop shop for all things health and beauty.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has definitely not been smooth, but each challenge has taught us valuable lessons and helped shape our business into what it is today. One of the biggest struggles early on was managing growth while balancing family life. As a small team, we were wearing multiple hats, often working long hours to keep up with demand. Another challenge was finding the right people to join our team. It took time to find skilled professionals who shared our vision and values, and there were some growing pains as we expanded our services.

There were also financial hurdles, especially in the beginning. We had to carefully manage cash flow as we invested in new equipment, expanded our offerings, and moved into a larger location. In addition, navigating the legal and regulatory aspects of running a medical spa required a lot of learning and adapting.

Despite these struggles, we’ve come out stronger, and each obstacle has been a stepping stone to building a business we’re incredibly proud of today.

In terms of big changes, we’re considering expanding to additional locations to serve even more communities and make our services more accessible. We’re also focused on enhancing the client experience, with potential updates to our space and more personalized treatment options to ensure every client feels truly cared for. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to upholding the high standards of service and expertise that have defined our brand from the very beginning.
