Daily Inspiration: Meet Lita Farmer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lita Farmer.

Hi Lita, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I stated catering in 2012. I have been doing so successfully as Food Feddish Catering. It was 2017 when I had a house fire and lost all of my catering equipment. This was a devastating loss and I was preparing my son to graduate high school and catering was my only income. After being displaced and having to fight the insurance company for almost a year, I reached out to family and friends to supplement my income and getting into FCA production facility. This was very challenging as I was use to being self-employed. I just wanted to make sure I could provide for my children while rebuilding. I was fortunate to be placed on a work shift which allowed me to work 10-hour shifts Monday- Thursdays mornings and still accommodate weekends catering jobs and sale Friday dinners. That was going well. I also do private bartending under Barbabez staffing which is primarily located in Atlanta. It’s owned by my close friend Lady – former owner of Club G-whiz in Detroit. We always talk about business and how to add other sources of income. One day I made and sold a dinner which included lemon pepper honey fried chicken. It was a hit. I infused the honey myself. I’m known to most as Chef Lita B. So, with that recipe and a few conversations with my Lady, Lita Bees infused honeys was born. I started out with the Lemon Pepper honey. And now I have 5 flavors in total. They can be shipped right to your doorstep. We also give you recipes to use the honey on our website.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It had not been a smooth road. We are now working on redesigning our packaging as a current supplier as stop stocking our original bottle. I’m also working on restaurant size options…

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
All of our 5 flavors are great staples in your kitchen. I give simple healthy recipes that the novice kitchen user can use abs it’s foolproof.
