Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Decelle
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was raised making all sorts of crafts by my mom but as I grew up and had a family of my own I started crafting decorations, cake toppers, and Valentine’s treats for my young kids out of a small room in my home. As friends and family started noticing my work, they began requesting custom pieces of their own. After about a year of working on the business part-time, one customer inquired about custom stencils and cookie cutters. Embracing the challenge, I learned how to design and print 3D-printed cookie cutters and matching stencils, which opened the door to the world of craft and baking tools for bakers and makers. And the rest is history! Today, I proudly run a 3D printer farm, utilize two CO₂ lasers, and multiple die-cutting machines to make my products. I love working with a wide range of mediums including wood, acrylic, rubber, and more.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In the beginning it was tough juggling all the tasks alone. I was working a full time job in the medical field and had 2 small kids under the age of 5 and my husband traveled for work frequently. But we made it work! It was a great experience showing my kids how to juggle multiple responsibilities and succeed in doing it. My kids, now teenagers LOVE helping me in the business. My daughter is quickly becoming a talented crafter and artist herself.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My business is somewhat unique locally as I specialize in several categories wood DIY projects, acrylic stamps as well as baking tools such as cookie cutters, stencils and cake toppers.
On the one hand I specialize in crafting unique, customizable wood DIY projects that bring a personal touch to home decor—items you just can’t find in stores. I love that each project can be painted and tailored to match individual styles, making every piece truly one-of-a-kind.
On the baking side, I channel the same creativity into designing fun and custom shapes for my customers to impress and serve their customers, like stamps and embossers, cookie cutters and stencils, that allow people to add a unique flair to their culinary creations. I’m most proud of the way I blend traditional craftsmanship with innovative design, setting my work apart by focusing on personalization and creativity in every piece.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The three words/ideas I would use to describe my outlook on business are perseverance, resilience, and impeccable customer service.
