Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Maurer.
Hi Paige, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been drawn to interior design and creative work. Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my grandparents, who owned a small home décor shop in my hometown. My grandfather handcrafted wood furniture and décor pieces, while my grandmother created everything from wreaths and pillows to other decorative home accents. Being surrounded by that creativity at such a young age had a huge influence on me and really sparked my love for design. My Grandparents as well as my parents always saw my gift of design and always encouraged me to pursue education in it.
I went on to study Interior Design at Central Michigan University, where I also minored in both Business Administration and Art — two areas that have been incredibly valuable in building and running my own design firm. I began my career specializing in kitchen and bath design, and over time that evolved into offering full-service interior design. Today, I work with clients from concept to completion, creating homes that are both beautiful and highly functional for the way they live.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like any business, there have been plenty of obstacles and challenges along the way, but I truly believe those experiences have helped shape both me and the business into what they are today. One of the biggest ongoing challenges in the design industry is scheduling and managing timelines. Interior design is rarely black and white, and even with careful planning, projects often overlap or shift unexpectedly, which can create very busy seasons all at once.
That said, I feel incredibly grateful for the people I get to work with every day — from clients to contractors and vendors. Having such great relationships and a strong team around me has made even the most stressful moments feel worthwhile in the end. I always do my best to navigate those busy periods with flexibility, communication, and a positive attitude, and I think those challenges have ultimately been some of the biggest blessings and learning experiences in my career.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I offer full-service interior design, combining my education in interior design with my background in kitchen and bath design to create a seamless experience for my clients. Because of that, clients don’t have to juggle multiple design professionals throughout the process — I oversee everything interior-related from concept to completion. I love being involved in every detail and helping create a cohesive vision for the home as a whole.
What I’m most proud of is my ability to really connect with my clients and bring out their personality in their homes. I spend a lot of time listening, learning about their families, how they live, and what makes them feel comfortable and inspired in a space. My goal is always to create homes that feel warm, nurturing, personal, and truly reflective of the people living in them.
I think what sets me apart is that I never approach design as being about my own style or ego. I always say this job is not about me — it’s about my clients. The best compliment I can receive is when a space feels authentically like them while still functioning beautifully for their everyday lives.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
A lot of people don’t realize how much happens behind the scenes in interior design. Sometimes I spend hours tracking down discontinued slabs, locating a lost furniture piece, coordinating with vendors, or working through small details on-site that clients may never even know about. There is a tremendous amount of communication, problem-solving, and logistics involved in bringing a home together successfully. While clients often see the finished result, there are countless moving pieces happening behind the scenes to make everything come together seamlessly in the end.
