Conversations with Elizabeth Fons

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Fons.

Hi Elizabeth, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up in Michigan I was always drawing, painting, and creating something. I knew very early on that I wanted to go to art school to pursue a career in design. I have always been a person who loves to make others happy so being able to take my design ability to create something beautiful and unique for my clients is a true passion.

I began designing wedding invitation packages after graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2008. While living in New York after college I worked as an event designer for an ad agency. That design experience had a huge influence on the direction of my work. I had the opportunity to work with a diverse client portfolio. It also honed my organization and management skills needed to get the job done perfectly!

Knowing I wanted to start my own business, I took the leap and founded Jade Social in 2013. It’s been an honor and a privilege to be in business for almost 10 years now!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Owning a business is never smooth ha! There have been many growing pains over the years. I continue to rethink processes to be more organized and create a more elevated experience for my clients. We work in a backyard studio in Royal Oak, so the building and evolution of that has been both exciting and challenging at times. In the end, I feel very lucky to do what I love and work with wonderful people!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Using custom artwork and illustrations we create exquisite wedding stationery!

We take pride in the end product. We obsess over the artwork and every little detail. We also are very proud of the process. We like to make it enjoyable for our clients. The wedding day goes by so fast; our goal is to make the planning and creation of their event branding fun and beautiful for our couples!!

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I am an avid Architectural Digest reader… I pull inspiration from art, architecture, and other design sources.

We also love to pull research from the couple, their interests/hobbies, and also where they are getting married!
