Conversations with Ebony Black

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Black.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I worked as an adult foster care provider for 10yrs through the state of Michigan and always prayed for a little change financially and something more outgoing for my future mainly self-employment I’ve always been into fashion keeping myself dressed to look the part!!! I began to save for this dream/goal I had in mind believing in myself and encouraging myself to come up with a name/brand then out came Inner City Fashion with the help of others. Praying even harder that I find a location and I did saying to myself God is good. No one was willing to just tell me about vendors, so me and my husband road from city to city and came across a few that was not easy. My husband Michael and our son Isaiah my mom slene we begin to build up inner city fashion with big thanks to our artists who designed my logo and painted inner city fashions images throughout the store Ernie Strickland. Now 2 years later business is doing well we welcome our new brand ambassador to inner city fashion maj meili I am thankful for you all.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Keeping good trustworthy employees has always been a struggle with in my business. Having only 900 square feet has been stressful there’s always more inventory I’d like to add to the floor but cannot in such a small space that I do appreciate and have stuck it out. Slow days come, and you think you did something wrong learning that’s just how business can be…

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What sets me apart from other is the blast of welcoming I give my customers I will always be friendly helping fun, and social, so I’ve been told. I love what I do inner city fashion is where confidence is built!!! I love seeing the smiles on my customers’ face that’s what brings me joy, so I try even harder with each person no matter if something wrong is going on within myself when my customers come into my store, I put them first with a smile!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I have a past some may know well I have not let that stop me from building my dreams and accomplishing my goals so don’t let that stop you from your goals and dreams. when some people and family members see how I’ve overcome they say their proud of me thank you that gives me even more motivation!! I give all the honor glory and praise to God for what he’s brought me through…
