Today we’d like to introduce you to BRYCE LP
Hi Bryce, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a singer-songwriter from Detroit. I’ve been entertaining audiences with my voice since the age of 3. My musical journey began in church, where I first discovered the power of song through gospel music. I was raised in a devout Christian household, I was exclusively exposed to gospel artists such as CeCe Winans and Fred Hammond. However, my curiosity about secular music led me to explore the sounds of Michael Jackson, Kenny Lattimore, and Luther Vandross, sparking my dream of becoming an artist. My talents grew during my time in high school, where I studied as a vocal major and sang background for several iconic artists such as Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Yolanda Adams. My musical experiences continue to shape my aspirations, and I’ve honed his skills by traveling across the country attending workshops and connecting with like-minded artists. As a songwriter, I began writing at age 9, with my first EP, “Flying” (2019), which showcases a unique blend of my love for R&B and Pop nuances. Over the years, I have performed in front of large audiences, including touring as a background vocalist for Kanye West and appearing in a stadium as a support vocalist for Drake. I remain focused on using my music to inspire and uplift, spreading a message of love and acceptance.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey has been far from smooth, filled with internal and external challenges that have shaped both my life and my music career. One of the biggest internal struggles has been finding my own sound. For a long time, the advice to “find your sound” felt like a cliché—I heard it everywhere but didn’t truly understand it. I’ve always loved singing as a background vocalist, where the goal is to blend seamlessly, complementing the lead singer and the other background vocals. In that role, individuality takes a backseat; you’re meant to support, not stand out.
So when I started getting opportunities as a soloist, I was terrified. Without someone else’s voice to guide or mirror, I felt completely lost. I overthought everything, trying to force a sound instead of just letting my voice be what it naturally is. But then, I had an epiphany: there are textures and nuances in my tone that are uniquely me. My smooth vocal texture allows me to deliver powerful performances with straight tone or subtle vibrato—no need for a ton of riffs and runs (though I love a good riff). Realizing that simplicity can still be impactful was a game-changer. Now, instead of obsessing over every vocal choice, I ask myself: How do I want this line to feel? That’s my job as a singer—to make people feel something.
Externally, one of my biggest challenges has been learning to be honest as an artist. I believe that every performer has a responsibility to tell the truth, but that hasn’t always been easy for me. Growing up in a deeply religious household, I was taught that being gay was wrong, and it left me with a lot of shame and self-doubt. I spent years trying to hide parts of myself—changing how I spoke, avoiding certain mannerisms, and doing everything I could not to stand out. But the truth is, I’m gay. And while I’ve come a long way in accepting myself, it’s a daily choice to stand in that truth unapologetically.
This struggle shows up in my writing and performances, too. Every time I step on stage, I remind myself to be vulnerable and authentic, even when it feels scary. That’s where my song “Worthy” comes from. I wrote it as a reminder to myself—and to anyone who hears it—that we are enough, just as we are. We’re exactly who and where we’re meant to be. There’s no need to rush or conform; we’re all beautifully, perfectly on our own unique paths.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a singer-songwriter who creates pop and R&B music under the stage name BRYCE LP. My music is rooted in themes of self-acceptance, love, and finding your worth—a message that resonates deeply with my journey and my listeners. What I do is more than just performing songs; it’s about storytelling. I aim to craft lyrics and melodies that not only entertain but also make people feel seen, understood, and inspired.
My specialty lies in blending heartfelt lyricism with smooth, soulful vocals. I’m known for my ability to connect emotionally with my audience—whether it’s through a song like Worthy, which reminds us all that we’re enough just as we are, or a track like Go Together, which explores the beauty of relationships and connection. I take pride in creating music that feels honest and authentic, reflecting both my experiences and the shared humanity we all navigate.
What I’m most proud of is how my music has impacted others. Hearing from fans who say my songs helped them through tough times or gave them the courage to embrace their true selves is the greatest reward. It reminds me that what I do has purpose beyond the stage or the studio.
What sets me apart is my perspective as both a singer and a songwriter. My background as a support vocalist taught me the importance of creating a sound that blends, but as a solo artist, I’ve learned to embrace the textures and nuances that make my voice uniquely mine. It’s a balance of technical precision and emotional storytelling that defines my work.
Ultimately, my goal is to create a space through my music where people can feel safe to be themselves. Whether I’m performing live, releasing a new single, or just connecting with fans, I want every interaction to leave people feeling valued, loved, and reminded of their own worth.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I love collaborating with other creatives—whether it’s writing songs, sharing the stage, or working on visuals that bring a story to life. If you’re a fellow artist, producer, or creative with a vision, I’d love to explore how we can bring something meaningful to life together.
