Conversations with Amye Liquia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amye Liquia.

Hi Amye, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communications. While putting myself through school, I worked as a graphic designer, marketing, and production manager in the signage industry for nearly 10 years before I launched my own freelance design company.

Since then, Liquia Design has grown from a graphic design firm to a full-fledged digital marketing boutique. My passion in life is helping other business owners organize and implement digital marketing strategies with exclusively custom-designed graphics that will bring more traffic to their online presence and ultimately grow their business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think anything valuable in life is paved with a smooth road. The bumps along the way are gloriously part of the journey! When I began freelancing, it was merely a side job to work on things that I was truly passionate about. After my husband and I got married, I got pregnant and my work took a back seat. I spent many years making my family and raising babies my top priority (and I don’t regret it one bit!). Now that they’re both in school full time, it allows me to focus all of my energy on growing my business.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m essentially a digital creator! Art has always been a passion of mine and I’ve found solace in creating digital graphics, specifically for businesses. I have vast experience in designing everything from wedding invitations, community flyers, signage, and magazine layouts. Thankfully, through all of that experience, I’ve been able to narrow down what I truly love to create.

My design practices now are strictly website design, branding, and social media marketing & management (which includes custom-designed graphics). I thrive on helping other businesses establish themselves online with a strong foundation in their branding and streamlined and effective marketing strategies.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the camaraderie of our small town!
