Today we’d like to introduce you to Shantanique Crumby.
Hi Shantanique, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story begins when I started my weight loss/fitness journey in 2018 after graduating with my Master’s Degree from Michigan State University (MSU) and returning back to the Metro Detroit area. After gaining so much weight from my 8 years at MSU I knew it was time for a change. When I returned home, it was recommended to me that meal prepping would help me reach my fitness goals because 80% of what the body needs is nutrition and 20% is physical activity. With that being said, within my first week of changing my eating habits and working out 4 days a week I lost 12 pounds. Therefore, with my results coming in so fast my workout family seen how effective my meals were as the weeks went by and suggested I should start helping others with transitioning to a healthier lifestyle. Shortly after, I decided to make this a reality by first conducting research and learning about the different dietary preferences, food allergies, and tolerances. As well as educating myself on how these things can help to promote healthier pregnancy outcomes, increase growth & development, help people maintain a healthy body weight and help reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Until this day I continue to eat my meals through my journey and educate people about living and eating healthier daily.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Becoming a business owner definitely comes with hardships with the amazing experiences and people you connect with. When joy is in your heart about your own creations no hardship can destroy your vision or motivation. Overall, my experience has been amazing and I wouldn’t change anything because everyone has a different path they walk every day.
We’ve been impressed with MealPreppingwithShantie, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The purpose of my business that makes me most of proud of myself is that with MealPreppingwithShantie I use both my Master’s in Social Work degree and meal prepping skills to help build rapport, coach, and mentor my customers through their transition to living a healthier lifestyle. I offer weekly, 21-day, and monthly plans commitments to my customers while catering to vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians & meat-eaters.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The most important characteristic of success is persistence. No matter what setback I am faced with I will always push through it, work smarter not harder, and continue moving forward.
