Community Highlights: Meet Joshua Rebmann of Pathways Counseling LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Rebmann.

Hi Joshua, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Bachelors from Central Michigan University in Psychology with a minor in Sociology.
Masters from Central Michigan University in Counseling.
I worked for a local counseling agency for 10 years.
I opened my own small private counseling practice three years ago.
Bulk majority of clients that I work with are dealing with the court system in some fashion.
Many clients struggle with substance issues, anger/violence, stress, anxiety/depression, life transitional struggles, as well as other challenges.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been and always will be challenges as we walk the myriad of paths of life. My life, personally and professionally, has not been an exception by any means. Each and every challenge that has been presented provides us an opportunity for learning and growth. We have the option to decide our perspective on such things.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Over 13 years of experience working with clients who are dealing with the court system, substance issues, anger/violence, stress, anxiety/depression, life transitional struggles, as well as other challenges.
I have had the opportunity to be a part of the treatment team for different counties specialty court programs for over eight years.
Each and every counselor is different in style, practice, schools of thought, and the like. I am truly proud of the opportunities that I have had to work with and help a multitude of clients with various struggles. Professionally there have been some peak experience moments where I have been contacted by clients from years prior to be hold of their successes, sobriety, and the positive changes that they have continued to work towards in life.

How do you think about luck?
I do not truly believe in luck, good or bad. I truly believe that the influence of your mental landscape and perspective leads to seeing things that happen as random twists of fate. We ascribe some import to these components that happen in life as being a part of some unknown external forces that we refer to as luck instead of the result of our choices and perspective.
